Who'da thunk it? An older, wiser Tiffany returns unexpectedly with "I'm Not Sleeping," an Alanis-esque song of self-discovery.

Along with Debbie Gibson, Tiffany fronted the wave of bubblegum pop that swept mainstream music in the late '80s. So, what with 'N Sync, the Backstreet Boys, Britney and Christina topping the charts, it makes sense that the former Queen of Teen Pop has resurfaced this year (never mind that it's been ten years since her last release). On this track from her new album, The Color of Silence, the older and wiser Tiffany looks not to her teen protégées, but rather to women like Alanis Morissette for her musical cues: "I'm Not Sleeping" is pop with a feminist twist. "I'm not here just to make you feel better / Stroke your ego," Tiffany sings in this song of self-discovery. The track is far from the drippy pop you'd expect from the girl who went to Number One with "I Think We're Alone Now." But her decision to add rapper Krazie Bone to the track -- seems Tiffany's noticed teen pop's not the only hot sound these days -- detracts from the song's pro-female stance, even if he is rapping from the narrator's point of view. Too bad Tiffany hasn't really discovered the inner strength she sings about: If she had, she would have stayed solo -- and the song would have been the better for it.

This is a cool down load because you knoe that you just can't help yourself! The song needs a little more substance and can be repetitive at times, but the mix between rap and pop is entertaining to say the least.Tiffany should have been left on VH1 where are they now though.
