The Lamb is seriously pissed off, and have managed to catch that fury in “Black Label”, a 4:52 blast of seesawing rhythms that sounds like the rantings of a homeless streetcorner psychopath set to music! It’s a damn shame you can’t pick up any of D. Randall Blythe’s full-on tourette’s lyrics upon listening, because Hallmark-moment lines like “Rife with hostility, what has caused me so much hate / Humanity. Exterminate with extreme prejudice” are swallowed up by machine gun drumming and tight-as-hell riffing. This isn’t run of the mill death metal though -- it’s got pacing, dynamics, and rhythm. Lamb of God writes songs -- not traditional ones, but songs nonetheless. LoG hail from Richmond, VA, which at times has battled for the municipal murders-per-capita crown.
