“Men should be encouraged to look at each other's bits.
Penises, I'm inclined to believe -- and I'm not just
talking about my own -- are good things.”
-- Adam Clayton of U2

Fresh off the World Wide Web -- The FREE downloads you can't live without!
Bruce Springsteen
A little slower than the album track, but these dudes are getting old so we can forgive 'em. "Born To Run" is still one of the finest slices of American Rock 'n' Roll that was ever written.

The Roots
Past, present, and future groove as one in "Caravan" (with D'Angelo on keyboards!), which should please both traditionalists and fusionists in jazz circles everywhere.

These FREE MP3 downloads can only be found on MUSICBLITZ!

Alternative
Alien Ant Farm - "Movies" - WinMedia - 3 Stars
A thoroughly derivative but tuneful entry into the alt-rock fray from the SoCal Papa Roach protégés. Thankfully, they ditch Papa’s growls for poppier, more upbeat results.

Blake Babies - "Disappear" - LiquidAudio - 2 Stars
10 years later, Julianna Hatfield and crew come back with a new little ditty. They sound the same. Can you wait a little longer next time please?

Electronic
Tricky - "Crazy Claws" - MP3 - 3 Stars
Frenetically sexy trip-hop flirts with distorted metal guitar and teases with whispery, understated vocals. Sneering and naughty -- just the way you like it.

Meg Lee Chin - "Swallowing You" - MP3 - 3 Stars
Freaky and cacophonous performance art trades on noisy feedback and crazy electronic waves of sonic sizzle. Space-age alterna-rock moves in a deep groove that is strangely alluring in all of its clash, clatter, and clamour.

Rap/Hip-Hop
Kurupt - "Behind The Walls (feat. Nate Dogg)" - MP3 - 4 Stars
This woofer-destroying, head-bobbing classic (from the West Coast family that spawned tha Dogg Pound) is a satisfying main course for anyone with a hunger for true hip-hop. It's definitely the breakout from the soundtrack to HBO's prison series "Oz."

JT Money - "Hi-Lo" - WinMedia - 3 Stars
Miami-bred JT Money steps out from the Poison Clan and serves up some dancefloor-friendly hip-hop that hits 'em high and hits 'em low. Just try to resist.

Metal
Disturbed - "Voices" - LiquidAudio - 3 Stars
Disturbed display all the chest-beating bombast and electronics-fueled testosterone that typifies the nu-metal crowd, but surprisingly stake out the beginnings of their own sound on the less-catchy but equally angry followup to their “Stupify” smash.

Reggae
Bob Marley - "Rock Sweet Rock" - MP3 - 4 Stars
This wobbly demo from Bob Marley's early years reveals the unformed artist as an unspoiled diamond-in-the-rough. This is ska with a '50s doo-wop flair; a real treasure.

Shaggy - "Mr. Lover Lover (Live)" - WinMedia - 2 Stars
Shaggy wisely samples a slice of Marvin Gaye's irresistible charm to dupe you into thinking he's got something worthwhile of his own to offer here. Sorry, Shags, the melody from "Let's Get It On" is the only thing to love about this one-note wonder.

Blues
Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise - "Baby (Live)" - WinMedia - 3 Stars
Don't turn a blind eye (sorry) to this adult alternative bluesy charmer. It's harmless enough, and baby, it's alright.

Jazz
Ella Fitzgerald - "Good Enough To Keep" - MP3 - 3 Stars
This live gem showcases Ella Fitzgerald scatting the crap outta this bouncy little number. Weaving lines from popular songs of her day into her intricate scat phrasings (and at one point proving she just might have invented Tuvan Throat singing), we wonder if this one is good enough to keep. You.. make.. the calllll!

Pop
Boy George / Cultural Diversion - "See Thru (MPC's Mix)" - WinMedia - 2 Stars
Tweaked, freaked, and geeked to the extreme, this thoroughly synthetic concoction, mixed by cross-dressing pop maestro Boy George, should be a hit in clothing stores from mall to shining mall.

Punk
Guttermouth - "She's Got The Look" - MP3 - 4 Stars
A refreshingly glib, off-the-cuff ditty from 10-year punk veterans Guttermouth. Guys who put the snot back in rock spin a cheeky yarn of punk rock love.

Gob - "I Hear You Calling" - LiquidAudio - 4 Stars
Blame Canada! The guys of Gob make a unique brand of punk equal parts catchy and punchy, and dial the speed down a notch on a tune of date denial.

Alt-Country
Lila McCann - "Come A Little Closer" - LiquidAudio - 3 Stars
Remember when Mandy Moore came around after Britney and Christina? Well, this is just like that, but with a bland country twist. Pretty indistinguishable stuff.
