Tantric
Tantric's Todd Whitener (guitar), Jesse Vest (bass), and Matt Taul (drums) first tasted fame in 1998 as three-fourths of Days Of The New, a post-grunge outfit that came together in Kentucky. Unfortunately, Days frontman Travis Meeks sacked them (citing bad vibes and the usual "creative differences") shortly after their eponymous first album rocketed up the charts, leaving Whitener, Vest, and Taul to retreat to Louisville and lick their wounds. Rather than throw in the towel, however, the guys hooked up with vocalist Hugo Ferreira, and began to write songs. The resulting demos landed them a deal with Maverick Records in late 1999; the band's self-titled first album is scheduled for release in February 2001. |
