Stacey Pullen
Growing up in Detroit in the mid-'80s, Stacey Pullen began DJing at underground parties before evolving into a full-fledged producer under the pseudonyms Bango, Kosmic Messenger, and Silent Phase. Heavily influenced by Kraftwerk, Derrick May, and Jeff Mills -- as well as the sounds of Chicago and Italian house -- Pullen joins Carl Craig and Richie Hawtin as the 2nd Wave of Detroit techno artists. His jazzy, ambient, tribal, and African sounds have have resulted in DJ gigs all over Europe, North America, Chile, and the Dutch Caribbean.
Pullen's full-length debut, released under the Silent Phase moniker for Derrick May's Transmat label, was true to the pure electronic sound. Other releases include a mix CD on the DJ Kicks series and his brand new album, Today Is The Tomorrow You Were Promised. He continues to develop his own label, Black Flag, and is always at work on countless remixing projects. |
