This Kid Named Miles
Musician/bandleader/producer/remixer Miles Tackett does it all. Working under the moniker This Kid Named Miles, or often simply Miles, Tackett has produced numerous L.A.-based artists like Dilated Peoples and the Poetice, and has done remixes for bands like Zap Mama. He also produced and provided most of the instruments for T-Love's Return of the B-Girl, which also featured contributions by Kool Keith, Ozomatli and Chali 2na of Jurassic 5. When he's not busy producing other artists, Miles plays around L.A. with his guitar trio, MT3, and leads the Breakestra, a funk/groove/soul group that mixes sampled breaks into its live sets. It would follow, then, that his musical sound is as varied as his many projects. "Good Vibrations" is a deceptively simple track, based around a sultry bass loop and subtly shifting acid jazz beats. Miles throws some turntable scratches into the mix, as well as the occasional vocal sample, which imparts, "I get good vibrations." If you're looking for good vibrations of your own, you can't go wrong by checking out this track.
