Bernard Allison
The youngest son of blues great Luther Allison, Bernard Allison is a talented guitarist, singer and songwriter in his own right. Though he possesses more than a little of his late father's firepower, Bernard also incorporates elements of funk, jazz and hard rock into his music. Born in 1965, Bernard spent many of his formative years hanging out backstage at blues festivals; by the age of eight, he'd already decided to follow in his father's footsteps. After graduating from high school, Bernard juggled gigs with Koko Taylor and Willie Dixon's Blues All-Stars while getting his songwriting and bandleading skills together with his own band, Bernard Allison and Back Talk. He moved to France in the late '80s to work as his father's bandleader, and he's lived there ever since. His first album, Next Generation, was released in France in 1989; Keepin' the Blues Alive, his US debut, came out in 1997. |
