Welcome !
    Jimmie Dale Gilmore
Jimmie Dale Gilmore is one of those performers who, if not for a couple of breaks, you might never have heard of him. He was born in West Texas and moved to Lubbock as a pre-teen where he met his eventual singing partner and best friend Butch Hancock. Later, Hancock introduced Gilmore to a friend of his, Joe Ely, and in 1972, the trio recorded one of the most influential roots rock records of all time under the collective name of the Flatlanders. Although it was ignored commercially at the time, dozens of artists cite it as a milestone for their personal careers. Gilmore kicked around from Texas to Colorado and back again, finally settling in Austin at the time the city was gaining national prominence as a musical mecca. Sixteen years after the Flatlanders album, Gilmore finally released his first solo album, the patently brilliant Fair and Square (1988) on HighTone, which was followed by his eponyomous follow-up and his eventual signing to Elektra, where he produced a string of well-received albums, including the T- Bone Burnett produced Braver Newer World (1996). After parting ways with Elektra, Gilmore started Windcharger Records and self-released his newest album, One Endless Night (2000), which garnered just as much praise as any of its predecessors. The new millennium also marked the official return of the Flatlanders, as Gilmore, Hancock, and Ely regrouped and hit the road for occasional dates and hinted that they may record again as well.
