Voodoo Glow Skulls
It's been a long twelve years for the brothers Frank, Eddy, and Jorge Casillas of the Voodoo Glow Skulls -- constant touring and recording has honed the Riverside, California, band into a finely tuned musical killing machine. Formed in 1988 as a four piece, the Skulls created their unique mixture of ska-punk energy and funk finesse in their bedroom, finally laying it on the world with 1992’s Who Is, This Is, released on Doctor Strange. The followup, Firme (1995), was released on Epitaph in both English and Spanish versions. With Firme, the band had grown to include a horn section, which completed their trademark sound. They went on to release Baile de Los Locos in 1996, and Band Geek Mafia in 1998 -- their sound continuing to mature beyond their initial “skacore” roots. Symbolic was released on Epitaph in 2000. |

Punk |
Horn-totin’ bilingual ska-core vets keep it tight, tense, and twisted. “Symbolic” is edgy enough to keep the formula sounding fresh, blending doomsday guitars and a frenzied pace with the best hop-along horns this side of the Bosstones.
