Welcome !
    Reggaeblitz All-Stars
There’s nothing like having your own resident reggae supergroup -- so we at Reggaeblitz recently decided the time was right to create our own. A studio meeting of the minds and hearts between Andrew Tosh, Pipe and Bread of Wailing Souls and Bunny Ruggs of Third World, the All-Stars have a huge combined legacy to live up to. And live up to it they do on “What You See Is What You Get,” a conscious cut that combines all their strengths into one blast of rootsy harmony. But it’s no less than you’d expect from the lineup of the All-Stars, which has decades of collective reggae history. After all, Bread and Pipe have been harmonizing since the mid-60s, and as the Wailing Souls, they’ve stood solid as the reggae winds blew from to roots to dancehall back to roots again, offering classic Jamaican hits like “Back out With It” and “Mr. Fire Coal Man” along the way. Ruggs’ guitar and vocals, meanwhile, became an integral part of Third World’s groundbreaking crossover sound -- first in the mid-‘70s, on albums like 96 Degrees in the Shade, and later on ‘80s efforts like the R&B and soul-spangled Serious Business. And Tosh, the son of reggae legend Peter Tosh, has established himself as a star in his own right, thanks to his tours with his father’s former Wailers bandmates and strong albums of original material, including the 1989 Grammy-nominated Make Place For the Youth. Put it all together and you’ve got a historic reggae summit meeting, where the strengths of the folks involved add up to an even greater whole. What you hear is what you get -- and it’s a lot, indeed.
