Disturbed
Hailing from the South Side of Chicago, alt-metal outfit Disturbed was the brainchild of high-school friends Dan Donegan, bassist the Fuzz and drummer Mike Wengren. Searching for a vocalist, the trio came across boarding school outcast David Draimen. The pairing worked out well for the band, with Draimen's "angry young man" approach to lyrics fitting Disturbed's thrashing sound. Building a following and reputation in Chicago, the band became the latest to throw a hat into the national alt/rap-metal scene with the release of their full-length debut The Sickness on Giant/Warner Brothers Records in 2000. |

Chicago's Disturbed lays down some competent yet "stupifyingly" dull hip-hop/metal that brings absolutely nothing new to the mosh pit.

Disturbed display all the chest-beating bombast and electronics-fueled testosterone that typifies the nu-metal crowd, but surprisingly stake out the beginnings of their own sound on the less-catchy but equally angry followup to their “Stupify” smash.
