Neko Case & Her Boyfriends
One of the most promising artists to emerge from the Alt. Country boom of the late '90s, Neko Case has made a name for herself by putting her own stamp on the sort of emotional, straight-shootin' songs released by Loretta Lynn, Kitty Wells, Tammy Wynette and Dolly Parton in the late 1960s. Born September 8, 1970 in Alexandria, Virginia, Neko grew up in the Pacific Northwest, and attended art school in Vancouver. While there, she played with various punk-pop and roots-rock bands before forming her own countrified solo act, Neko Case & Her Boyfriends. Her first album, Virginian, was released in 1997 to positive reviews, but her 2000 opus, Furnace Room Lullaby seems to be taking her to a whole new level. |
