Lush, exotic, and slightly foreboding, “Laura’s Aura” pays homage to Alfred Hitchcock soundtrack composer Bernard Herrmann, and the results are nearly breathtaking. Combustible Edison lace their usual cocktail lounge sound with electronic textures and loops, weaving a dark, evocative and engaging track in the process. Lead vocalist Miss Lily Banquet is in top form here, with a performance reminiscent of the mellower side of Leslie Gore. This track is taken from Combustible Edison’s swan song release, Impossible World, an all around rewarding marriage of lounge, pop, and electronica.
