Corrosion of Conformity Congratulations Song Album: America's Volume Dealer
Genres: Metal
America’s volume dealers return to the Stone Age. It’s loud, it rawks, and it’s (yawn) commonplace. |

Less over the top metal than accessible Stone Age stoner rock, “Congratulations Song” has these former headbanger-punks lacking innovation and wallowing in mediocrity. C.O.C. fuses elements of Fu Manchu, Soundgarden and Sabbath with the end product housing chunky -- albeit predictable -- chords and an unconvincing chorus. On the latter, Pepper Keenan’s dime bag paranoia sets in as he utters, “Someone’s trying to get the best of me.” But trying to get the best out of these self-proclaimed “volume dealers” may not be as easy as you’d expect. Sure it rawks, but these are re-treads, son, not new tires.
