U2 When I Look At The World Album: All That You Can't Leave Behind
Genres: Pop
Tired of their lame and labored attempts at being trashy pop stars, everyone's favorite paddies return to what they do best -- stirring, atmospheric, heart-on-the-sleeve rock! |

U2 are blessed with a rare gift in pop music: At their best moments, they can pierce your heart with a single note. Such is the case with "When I Look at the World," off the Irish quartet's soon-to-be-released album, All That You Can't Leave Behind. The track is classic U2: Bono wails with pent-up yearning, then reins his voice back in to a hoarse croon; the Edge matches Bono's intensity with the distinct cry of his guitar; longtime U2 producers Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno cover the track with a light atmospheric sheen. But "When I Look at the World" is a classic U2 song on another level as well: from its first keyboard note, it grabs ahold of your heart, and refuses to let go.

After the "POP" fiasco many had written this band off. Now after years of synth-pop flooding the airwaves its great to have the Edge, Larry & the other 2 back in top form.
