This was the single that relaunched Beenie Man’s career in the early ‘90s, after a long lull that followed his days as a kid wunderkind. In retrospect, it’s a solid but strangely unspectacular effort; maybe it’s the irritating digital chopping up of the “Answer” riddim, a popular pick first waxed by the DJ Lone Ranger and used by lots of Beenie contemporaries, including his rival Bounty Killer. Here, the stop-start bass and drums don’t seem to give Beenie the momentum his lyrical flow requires -- a shame, as his mic-rocking skills are deservedly legendary.
