There's a possibly apocryphal Candye Kane story that goes like this: a few years back, legendary KISS bassist and all-around sleazebag Gene Simmons propositioned Candye at a Hollywood music shindig. Candye's reply? "Maybe if you were George Jones or something, I'd consider it!" True or not, that same kind of sass permeates this boogie-woogie title track from her latest waxing. "I used to be an angel / But it nearly got me killed," she sings, making one wish that the voluptuous Candye had been cast in the new Charlie's Angels, instead of that annoying Q-tip Lucy Liu. The track rocks nicely, harkening back to the jump-blues era without wallowing in retro-minded campiness, and the reverb-drenched guitar solo is a killer. If people across this great land would only give out this kind of Candye for Halloween, the youth of America would have whiter teeth, cleaner gums, and one bad-ass mama for a role model!
