King Kooba have long had funk in their veins; Charlie Tate, one of the group's founders, even got his start playing bass in a funk band. These funk roots make themselves felt on this track from King Kooba's 2000 release, NuFoundFunk. While the song has an undeniable electronic quality to it, live keyboards and percussion, as well as the unadulterated vocals of Melissa Heathcote, make it more of a groovy organic jam than a hodgepodge of loops and samples. It's a nice spin on electronic music that should appeal to those who like their instruments played by people rather than by machines.
