Rockin' Teenage Combo Groove Canal #42 Album: Mr. Birdy's Fryday
Genres: Jambands,Jazz
We don’t know what the other 41 sound like, but "Groove Canal #42" sounds like just the kind of place for a dark & groovy boat trip. |

Do not attempt to adjust your speakers -- that’s just the sound of Rockin’ Teenage Combo messin’ with you. Employing static as an instrument and hip-hop beats as a weapon, RTC ease you into the track with a little dose of hipster funk, mixed up real nice ‘n’ saucy-like. Primarily known as a jazz trio, RTC spread their wings on this track, displaying an affinity for wah-wah grooves, bouncing basslines, funky breakbeats … and the occasional sine wave. This is the real deal, exploratory and deep, tripped out and eerie, drawing you in and spinning you round ‘til you don’t know which way to point your ears ‘cause it all sounds so damn good. Veering from funk to hip-hop to electronic, RTC mix it up and lay it down like pros. I don’t know what the other 41 sound like, but "Groove Canal #42" sounds like just the kind of place for a dark & groovy boat trip.
