The Wailing Souls' MUSICBLITZ Exclusive, "Equality," is nothing short of an instant classic! When a legendary reggae act takes on one of the genre's primary themes in the roots reggae style, how can the results be anything but compelling? Unfortunately, pleas for equal rights and an end to racism are still as relevant today as they were in the early days of reggae. It's hard to imagine anyone expressing those pleas more eloquently than the Souls do on this track, as they sing, "Equality of rights and justice for the people, for the people / Opportunity for everyone with no more differential / Because we are all under the same sun." It's a simple message, leaving out the whistles and bells, but one that's compelling and vital, nonetheless. Musically, sterling production by the legendary Sly and Robbie helps keep the Souls in classic form, with rock solid riddims keeping the groove in place and tasty horns accenting throughout. A timeless classic from a group that deserves to be as revered as reggae's elite.
