Bratmobile It's Common (But We Don't Talk About It) Album: Ladies, Women, And Girls
Genres: Punk
Getting one of riot grrl's most-loved bands back -- in top form, no less -- isn't common at all, and this track should definitely get people talking! |

Stripped down and raw, Bratmobile return in top form on "It's Common (But We Don't Talk About It)." Just as full of vitriol as she ever was, it's impossible to miss the anger and sarcasm in Alison Wolfe's voice as she sings the song's chorus: "I work all day and I think of you / I dream at night and you're there too / I wipe your ass and do your dishes, too / You know it's all I ever wanted to do / I know you're saying that it's common / And I know what you're saying / But we don't talk about it." The powerful lyrics are delivered with a pseudo-Johnny Rotten sneer in Wolfe's voice, helping to drive the point home. The music is raw, raucous, and low-fi, but still has enough of a melody to get its hooks into even a casual listener, demanding repeated listening. At a time when so many bands are reuniting as weak specters of their former selves, it's really good to have Bratmobile back in top form.
