I Don't Wanna Talk About It Now
Album: Red Dirt Girl
Genres: Alt-Country
The lady who brought “Cosmic Americana” to academics 25 years ago affirms that sifting through the red dirt has it’s rewards. She may not wanna talk about it, but she sings about it just fine.

Even though Harris has been drifting further and further away from trad-country with each successive release over the last ten years, her end-result remains impressive. And judging by this Red Dirt Girl-excerpt, things aren’t likely to lose ground anytime soon. Assisted by the depth of producer Malcolm Burn, an artiste when it comes to mood music, Harris coughs up a wonderfully ethereal, but equally rollicking track. Bass tension, resonating guitars and skulking drumbeats are the boxspring that Emmylou’s superb vocalizations rest upon and when she sings “I’d be drawn and quartered if I could keep you in my bed,” you’d have to be a fool to doubt her. This, lads, is an experienced woman. Who would’ve thought that sifting through the Red Dirt could be so rewarding?
