Song review: Pop music isn't the only genre Latin music has invaded recently: It's also sneaked its way onto the dance floor during the past few years, as DJs have started incorporating samba and Brazilian beats into their sets. Germany's Ian Pooley takes a cue from this trend on this track from his latest full-length, Since Then. Pooley previously looked to Detroit techno and house to inform his music, and the latter influence still lurks in the song's steady four-four beat. But what's most prominent in "Coracao Tambor" is its Brazilian flavor, from its samba-esque percussive shakes to Rosanna and Zelia's guest vocals. The addition of these elements could come off as kitschy; instead, it gives the track an exuberant, energetic boost. With "Coracao Tambor," Pooley has expanded his musical vision while keeping its integrity intact.
