	The most important thing you need if you want to download this live track from jazz giant Charles Mingus is patience: it’s nearly a 30 MB monster, and unless you’ve got a fast connection, prepare to wait awhile. You’ll be rewarded, since the 20-minute plus cut comes from a Paris concert in 1964 that featured one of Mingus’ best bands, including the unpredictable Eric Dolphy on bass clarinet, flue and alto sax. As you might expect, the lengthy jam and relaxed tempo encourages some rather minute explorations of small segments of song -- witness Mingus’ introspective soloing throughout. But such journeys are balanced by the subtly shifting arrangement, which sustains interest even during the slow stretches. Suffice to say that it all goes by much more quickly than you’d think, with excellent contributions from Dolphy and pianist Jaki Byard worth mentioning.
