With their trademark lo-fi, rocket-fueled sound, and Jello Biafra's distinctively nasal voice, there's no mistaking "Forward To Death" for anyone but the Dead Kennedys. While "Forward" isn't quite the classic that songs like "Holiday In Cambodia" and "California Über Alles" are, it's still light years ahead of most modern punk rock. The rawness and intensity captured on this sloppy, lo-fi recording convey punk rock aggression far better than any glossy studio with a mega-bucks producer could ever hope to do, and most lyricists can't hope to hold a candle to Biafra's sentiments, as he shouts "I don't need your way of life / I can't stand your attitude / I don't need this fucking world / This world brings me down / Down with every breath / I look forward to death." It's a nihilistic message, but one that fit the times in which it was released, and frankly, is still relevant in a time when a race to find the lesser of two evils ends in a statistical tie.

This is real Punk rock. This isn't for the people who like Blink 182 or Pappa Roach- who think they're tough and punk. No Sir, These bad boys are the originators.
