Sly and Robbie Softcore Surge Album: Fatigue Chic
Genres: Electronic
"Exodub Implosion" lacks the innovation crucial to the electronica genre. Instead of shining, the music implodes into a black hole of opaque sound. |

What's in a name? Not much, sometimes, when you're talking about creativity, inspiration and musical integrity. Here are a couple anyway: Sly and Robbie and Elektra, for example. The label describes them as "Rhythm Legends". Well...check out this download and see for yourself. The name of this track is 'Exodub Implosion', but when listening to it you get images of the elevator at your Granny's funeral parlor. How about their other track 'High Voltage Syndrome'? More like Slow Death in a Defective Electric Chair. But we have to remember that these names have worked with other names like Grace Jones, Bill Laswell and Bob Dylan to name a few. I wonder if they've ever heard of Lo-Fi Allstars or Crystal Method. With all the name dropping on their websites, though, they sure look impressive. After winning a Grammy this year, maybe they should take some time off. Relax. What's in a name? Ka-CHING! What a bunch of crap.
