Just when you thought modern rock couldn't get any more derivative, along comes a band like Lifehouse, and things just get that much worse. There's little on this track from the band's debut, No Name Face, to distinguish Lifehouse from the current crop of alt-rock bands. Like most young aspiring rock stars today, singer Jason Wade patterns his vocal after Eddie Vedder's; behind him, the band churns out yet another guitar-heavy melody backed by plodding drums. True, Wade's voice is passionate enough to sound emotionally genuine. But if he's looking for staying power, he might try finding a sound he can call his own.
