Ricky Bell Spanish Fly Album: Ricardo Campana
Genres: R&B
The voice of New Edition’ll need a big pinch of “Spanish Fly” to get you to stick around till the end of this Latin-tinged jam. |

First off, give Ricky Bell credit for ambition. Superficially at least, the mellow, acoustic guitar-driven funk groove and sweet vocals of “Spanish Fly” have a sort of resemblance to mature R&B merchants like Seal. The main difference (besides the subject matter; try imagining the suave Seal crooning a tune with this title) comes in the repetitive arrangement, which is attractive for the first three minutes or so but unfortunately goes on for another two. Had Bell chopped the lengthy coda and thought of another interest-generating device besides the backing vocals in Espanol, this one coulda been a contendah -- as it is, you’ll hear a decent melody that deserves better than it got.

I've always Loved New Edition and BBD. Ricky has a strong voice and if his writers are as good as he sounds, he'll do well.
Dometria
I feel that Ricky Bell's new single spanish fly is a smooth mellow song that gets you relexed.I think the song should have gotten more than two stars. If you understand spanish than you can relate to what the song is saying. Keep blazin' them tracks Ricky! YO amo tu.

I still support BBD and NE, please make a reunion Ricky
