	The b-ball-as-metaphor-for life rhyme has been pretty well run into the ground over the past decade, with P.E.’s “He Got Game” being the logical culmination. But that doesn’t mean you should ignore this take on the theme by Shawn Carter and Co. Your standard, hard East Coast joint livened up with a dramatic string sample, “Bahlers” is more notable for the punchy mic turns divvied between Jay-Z and No Money, Teflon and Gant, than anything the four have to say about the struggles of hustlin’ and the hip-hop game (nice line, though: “I paint pictures beautifully / But niggas is nearsighted / Don’t worry bout plagarism / It’ll take ‘em years to bite it”). If this was a real game of hoops, these cats would outreeb & outwork the other guys and win by 10 or so.
