Radiohead Morning Bell (Live) Album: n/a
Genres: Alternative
Can Radiohead do no wrong? By choosing to release this less-than-stellar live track, it appears that sometimes they can. |

Radiohead are indisputably one of the best rock bands today – not only have they recorded some of the most challenging music of the past decade, but they somehow translate this music into electrifyingly powerful live performances. Which is why this live version of "Morning Bell," from their most recent album, Kid A, comes as something of a disappointment. In a live setting, Radiohead normally maintains the intensity of their recorded material while altering it just enough to keep things interesting. This track, however, comes across as a straightforward reading of its studio counterpart; the little alterations in Thom Yorke's vocal, meanwhile, sound like self-indulgent trickery on the part of his mic man. Thankfully, they leave the beautiful melodicism of the song intact, but it's not enough to make this track more than a footnote in the band's discography.

A great live version. Close to the album which rocks so this version definitely honors the song.
