While lead belter Burton C. Bell and crew deliver all of the synth-tinged brutal riffs that made them an underground phenomenon (and vaulted them to near-gold sales status without the benefit of airplay or a big-time tour), “What Will Become” could well be titled “What They’ve Already Done.” For an outfit that made their name by obliterating the boundaries between techno tweaking and death metal grind, there’s not a lot of new ground being broken on this track. It’s a tight 3+ minutes of metallic melodrama, but ultimately leaves you feeling like Fear Factory’s forward-looking music is stuck in a good old-fashioned rut.       Bret Moore     Bret Moore is a staff writer for MUSICBLITZ.
