Death By Stereo Getting It Off My Chest Album: Day of the Death
Genres: Punk
A marginally inspired but schizophrenically mired collection of punk hooks and hardcore uppercuts – if they could just make up their mind! |

Admirably constructed but disturbingly disjointed, Death By Stereo’s “Getting It Off My Chest” throws the best riffs-and-rage of hardcore into a cauldron with some tepid stabs at sing-along punk choruses and comes up shallow. The result is a fairly de-rigueur slice of slopped out sonic disturbance – it’s good for grins but doesn’t have much staying power. Death By Stereo has built a quick groundswell in the Southern California punk scene, but “Getting It Off My Chest” sounds a little bit like they’re just cleaning out the closet.

It's got the repeating riff, simple harmonics, repetitive lyrics. it's Punk alright- and by Punk standards, this is pretty good. As for real music standards- could use some work.

I have to admit that I have not listen to much of "Death By Stero's" work, but this song is awesome. It combines the credibility of hardcore's mantality with the catchiness of pop-punk likability. This is definitely a crowd pleaser.
