A head-kicking live interpolation of the Black Sabbath classic, with a little help from Jerry Cantrell. |

Few bands have had the talent -- or the balls -- to pull off a convincing version of "War Pigs," Black Sabbath's fearsomely heavy anti-war epic. It's no problem for Gov't Mule, however, especially when they've got Jerry Cantrell from Alice In Chains sitting in on lead guitar. Recorded live in October '99 at L.A.'s House of Blues, this rendition rumbles with the power of prime Sabbath. And while Warren Haynes' vocals might lack the gripping hysteria of Ozzy Osbourne's original performance, his southern drawl lends the lyrics an appealing "down home" quality. Highly recommended to heavy rock fans of every persuasion.

great cover of a classic song. The best non-Sabbath rendition of this song that I've heard.
