Warren Zevon Even A Dog Can Shake Hands Album: Sentimental Hygeine
Genres: Rock
A hard-rocking and hilarious track from a terminally underrated songwriter, with music provided by three members of REM. |

This fast-paced, hard-rocking track originally appeared on 1987's Sentimental Hygeine, which still stands as Zevon's most consistently excellent album. REM-ers Pete Buck, Mike Mills and Bill Berry (who played on much of the album, and also collaborated with Zevon on several tracks released years later under the Hindu Love Gods moniker) kick out the jams with power to spare, while Warren rages in hilarious fashion about "the worms and the gnomes" who populate the Hollywood scene. The lyrics -- and the visceral punch of the music -- are just as refreshing now as they were thirteen years ago, and the song is a must-have for anyone who likes their rock music spiked with copious amounts of barbed wit.
