Recorded live at the Hollywood House of Blues in October 1999, "Caveman" could just as easily have come from 1957; such is the timeless magic of The Cramps. Poison Ivy's echo-drenched opening rhythm riff sets the tone, riding a beat that can only be described as "Paleolithic," while Lux roars the sort of lyrics that make "Me Tarzan, You Jane" sound articulate. The only bummer is that you can't actually see them playing; it's just not the same without being able to watch Lux laying waste to the mic stand, his trousers, and everything else within reach, while Ivy digs into her Gretsch hollowbody as if the fate of the world hangs on her every twang. But until The Cramps hit your town again, this'll hold you nicely.
