Hefner The Hymn For the Cigarettes Album: The Fidelity Wars
Genres: Alternative
Gloriously catchy and clever Brit-pop from a criminally underlooked trio. |

Hefner songwriter Darren Hayman has eulogized alcohol, telephones, and Berlin in previous “Hymns,” and now he turns his attention to the Demon Tobacco. Indulging in a Proustian reverie, he sings, “Lucky Strikes remind me of my friends out on the West Coast/Camel Lights remind me of my ex-girlfriend at Christmastime.” We’ve all been there -- well, all of us who’ve smoked cigs at least. A languorous treat for fans of acid-etched pop and nicotine, but not recommended for those who’re trying to quit.

Kinda reminds me of Jude -- very sing, songy. Fun lyrics.
