Genres: Alt-Country,Rock
A fun but facile dig at AM-radio preachers, sung in an appropriately whiskey-drenched style. |

A pleasant-enough cut from the Truckers' recent Pizza Deliverance CD, "Too Much Sex (Too Little Jesus)" pokes fun at the many AM-radio preachers who make a living by fleecing gullible listeners. But it's a topic that's kinda been done to death by now (anybody remember "Far Away Eyes" by the Rolling Stones?), and Patterson Hood's lyrics don't exactly add a new perspective to the canon. Hood's vocals are appealingly whiskey-drenched, however, and the banjo-stoked tune is fairly catchy, but this is hardly the best that these here crackers can do.

You have to at least give this song a listen due to it's name which struck so much curiousity...it's twangy in that country kind of way- but has a kick to it. Worth a try, definitely
Kristin
Worth a listen if you're a fan of alt-country (which I am) but it relies a little too much on the same line...by the end of the song there's a good chance that you'll have had "Too much sex, too little Jesus" too
