"Beyond The Invisible"? More like "Beyond the Tolerable." |

Remember when Enigma was good? You'll want to after listening to "Beyond The Invisible." Although all of the group's sonic signatures are present -- chant, the flutes and looping beats, the breathless females sighing in your ear -- the song is still Dead On Arrival. I don't know what's worse: the new-agey, nonsensical whispers of the French chick in the beginning ( "I look into ze mirror, I need space for my desires . . . I have to dive into my fantasies . . . everyseeng is posseeble") or the male vocalist, his voice dripping with '80's Velveeta passion. Ultimately, the song can't decide what it wants to be -- spiritual power pop or booty-gettin' music for the new-age set. Either way, it ain't good. If you have a remote control, keep it next to you as you relax in yer bubble bath. That FAST FORWARD button's gonna come in real handy.
