Lard Volcanus 2000 (We Wipe the World) Album: 70's Rock Must Die
Genres: Alternative,Punk
A joke that falls flat in the first minute, this metal/industrial parody begs for the fast-forward button.
Taken at face value, “Volcanus 2000” makes for a repetitive, boring bit of metal-flavored industrial squall. However, this Rob Zombie-ish treat isn’t intended to be consumed without a wink and a nudge. The song is part of a record called ’70s Rock Must Die -- a sentiment with which most of us can agree no matter how much we like Led Zeppelin (it’s time to move on, right?). So think of “Volcanus 2000” as a “Weird” Al Yankovic-style parody of Zombie and his ilk. It’s still no fun to listen to, but at least you know that it’s no fun to listen to on purpose.

Bottom line: not a very quality song. The recording is somewhat static-y and the song itself is just too sally to compete with the adrenaline-pumping hardcore you hear by Korn, Zombie, etc. I can't believe these guys got a record deal at all.
