Dilated Peoples The Platform Album: Platform
Genres: Rap/Hip Hop
L.A. MCs demand that hip-hop be respected; that’s an easy task when the tracks are this good. |

The mic-rocking duo of Iriscience and Evidence sounds like a West Coast answer to the profound and hard-hitting New York tag team of Mos Def and Talib Kweli. Both sets of MCs drop plenty of knowledge without getting too esocteric; the upfront delivery and uncluttered beats here mirror the qualities that made Mos Def and Talib Kweli Are Black Star such a revelation. Plus, it’s hard to argue with the message to MCs – respect yourself and your platform, a.k.a. hip-hop. Keep an eye on these guys.
