Elliott Murphy (with Bruce Springsteen) Everything I Do (Leads Me Back To You) Album: Well Intentioned Pedestrians
Genres: Rock
One of rock’s best-kept secrets, this singer/guitarist is a favorite of everyone from the Violent Femmes to Tom Petty to The Boss, who adds his craggy voice to this tender ballad. |

Originally appearing on the 1995 album Selling the Gold, this sweet, intensely personal love song features guest vocalist Bruce Springsteen. His nasal voice melds nicely with Murphy’s smoother tones and the soulful female backing singers. The result is a bit like a kinder, gentler ‘70s Rolling Stones, without Jagger’s cocky strut. If you’re unfamiliar with Murphy’s work, “Everything I Do” makes a fine introduction.
