A hot pick for its hot pickin’, this warm and winning traditional air from three titans is a Dead-on treasure. |

Garcia and Grisman covered this old traditional tune on their 1996 album of the same name, but this version benefits from two extra bits of spice. One is Rice’s ultra-clean flatpicking licks, which show a taste and restraint uncommon to many virtuoso players. The other is the warm, informal nature of the track -- there’s nothing self-conscious about the proceedings, which isn’t always the case when three instrumental titans get together. Best of all, the performance sounds like it’s happening right in your kitchen; it’s got that sense of the here-and-now that’s missing from so many live recordings. Dead fans will eat it up of course, but any bluegrass or “newgrass” lover shouldn’t miss it either.

Fans of JGB or Mother McCree's Uptown Jug band should really dig this. People who are expecting to hear a zoned out, pot smoking song should turn back now
Trippie
When 3 icons such as this get together(known for their live performances), listeners expect something great from a live track, and in this case they get it. The simple, comforting track is something everyone from a yuppie father to teenge Dave freak can enjoy.
