Juliana Hatfield Somebody Is Waiting For Me Album: Beautiful Creature
Genres: Alternative,Pop
Love her or hate her, but you’ve got to admit she can write a good hook. With her latest doleful pop song, indie-rock’s broken-hearted prom queen will have you teary-eyed by the time the chorus kicks in. |

Remember when Juliana Hatfield played a homeless girl on My So-Called Life, and her scenes were really hokey and unrealistic but still you felt compelled to watch and wallow in the sadness of the situation? Well, that’s the feeling you get from a lot of her songs, including this one. Though the writing here isn’t as distinctive as it could be, the sweet melody evokes the familiar Hatfield wistfulness, affecting you despite your better instincts. She’s always been good at writing lyrics that create an unspoken back-story, and her quiet, yearning delivery is sad and hopeful all at once. Just be sure you’re ready to have your heartstrings vigorously plucked before listening.

you know...I half hate her and half adore her. She is so miserable yet so sweet sounding like a little girl. Someone put her out of her hell already! Good track, not her best though,
