Well, that’s the feeling you get from a lot of her songs, including this one. Though the writing here isn’t as distinctive as it could be, the sweet melody evokes the familiar Hatfield wistfulness, affecting you despite your better instincts. She’s always been good at writing lyrics that create an unspoken back-story, and her quiet, yearning delivery is sad and hopeful all at once.
