Cowboy Mouth aims straight down the middle of the road with its music, and this break-up song is no different. It’s the kind of radio-oriented roots rock that will appeal to fans of John Mellencamp, Melissa Etheridge, and their ilk. The band pays tribute to its hometown with the tale of a homesick, lovesick guy stuck in Texas, where the “sun beats down like the Devil’s smile.” On this live recording, the crowd sings along with every line, but it’s hard to figure out what they’re getting so worked up about. Guess you had to be there.
