Surrounded by a crew of singers and rappers -- like R&B artist Kenyatta, and hip-hop stars Legit and Junior P -- Daddy Freddy’s distinctive vocals give this brightly-produced call for equal rights some much-needed edge. Since his work has been available only sporadically since his mid-90s heyday, it’s great to get another chance to hear one of the most underrated DJs around strut his stuff. The tune is a rather good-natured and poppy turn on the usual “No Justice, No Peace” slogan (and the “We Are Family” bit wasn’t necessarily the best idea) but it’s winning enough to overcome any reservations you may have.
