This balls-out live take on "Metal Meltdown" actually blows the original studio cut -- from the criminally underrated Painkiller (1990) -- out of the water. As usual, new boy Ripper Owens delivers his near-perfect Halford impression, coupled with some gutteral lower-register vokes nicked from Sebastian Bach. Derivative, sure -- but rockin' as hell. Best of all, this is a live cut that actually sounds live -- no apparent studio polish, just pure Priest in the raw. Awesome!
