Bush Everything Zen (The Lhasa Fever Mix ) Album: Deconstructed
Genres: Alternative,Rock
As it turns out, everything isn’t Zen in this kitchen-sink dancefloor revamping of the band’s first big hit. |

Not content to cash in on just one pre-packaged pop trend, Gavin Rossdale and Co. turned their attention from “grunge” to “electronica” with their ‘97 remix album Bush Deconstructed. Despite participation by some notable producers, there’s little to recommend on the record, and this industrial/Big Beat re-working of the hit “Everything Zen” is one of the worst tracks. Justifiably obscure production duo Greg Brimson and Peter Coyte have scrapped the original melody (generally the only part of a Bush song worth bothering with), leaving intact Rossdale’s ever-so-anguished yet meaningless lyrics. Then they seem to have turned up all the knobs on their 808 and wandered out of the control room. The resulting glop has little to offer (godforsaken) Bush fans, but if you’re into breakbeats, it might provide you with a good laugh.
