Sir Grade One Red Hot Reggae (Bashment Teggae Mix) Album: n/a
Genres: Reggae
A Grade “A” electro-ragga party anthem from Grade One, whose hard-edged beats are as slick as polished steel. |

Sir Grade One’s days in the “jungles” of post-rave era England are apparent on this shiny, happy track, which draws as much from futuristic dance music as from Jamaica. That’s evident in the bubbling, burbling electronic loops that percolate under the two-fisted ragga beat, implying the frantic tempo of jungle and drum ‘n’ bass without actually summoning it. The “I love reggae” toasts are relaxed and not as polished as the backing, on the other hand, but they’re effective enough to keep this one a solid dancefloor bet.
