P.O.D.E.ville Man Dem Man Cry Album: Product of D Environment
Genres: Reggae
Dancehall meets mellow G-Funk out by da Bay, as this Oaktown posse gets sensitive and asks: “Have you ever seen a man cry?” |

G-Funk’s not dead -- at least not when you spice it up the shuddering sub-bass and moaning Moog synth lines by tossing in some Jamaican-accented singjaying vocals. But P.O.D.E.ville Man Dem stick with the classic lyrical theme of the roughness of ghetto living – although delivered in a more sensitive fashion than your average gangsta probably might. It’s a surprisingly effective blend that might not make you cry, whether you’re a man or not -- but will give that subwoofer in your trunk an exotic and though-provoking workout.
