Screaming Trees One-Way Conversation Album: MUSICBLITZ Exclusive
Genres: Alt-Country,Alternative
Another timeless classic from the Trees, a majestically aching ballad stoked by funky congas, beautiful guitar playing, and Mark Lanegan's soulful croon. Will these gents ever get their just due? |

A sad and soulful cross between the Rolling Stones' "No Expectations" and the Screaming Trees' own "Dollar Bill," the MUSICBLITZ Exclusive single "One Way Conversation" shows that a four-year hiatus hasn't diminished the band's power by even a fraction. Gary Lee Conner, one of the most underrated guitarists in America, layers the country-tinged ballad with some gorgeous six-string filigrees, and delivers a distorted lead break that manages to be both terse and sweet at the same time. Mark Lanegan caresses the lyrics with his distinctive baritone ache, and Barrett Martin's conga beats lend the track a nicely funky groove (Barrett also produced the track). "One Way Conversation" is more than worth the wait -- hopefully there's plenty more where this one came from.
